    原标题:People and Companies want to or want a change but are they really committed to making it happen?

    在11月27日的文章里,我谈到了发生在中国办公室的有趣事情,关于我们的员工以及培训,希望通过培训能够让他们变得更好,提升技能,变得更加专业,更有能力。

    人们总是害怕改变,害怕开始不一样的事物,有别于日常工作的新东西,而且他们担心改变会带来更多的问题,额外的工作和挑战。有些人不愿意成为总监或者经理是因为他们害怕潜在的新责任,潜在的额外工作,对人的管理以及觉得一直做同样的事情会更加容易,更少压力。

    故事的第二部分发生在过去一些天里。我们请了一名专业的老师开展培训,提升员工在某一设计软件的操作技能,掌握这一软件对于我们在产品应用和空间装饰上起到很大的帮助,而且让效果评估和决定速度变得和之前大不一样。下面我和大家分享一些培训开始至今发生的很有意思的事情:

    在正式的培训之前,大家有些害怕,问自己:为什么老板如此坚持要让我们进行这个培训?我们不需要更多的责任,我们也不需要更多的工作。

    同时在积极的方面,他们想:也许这个会对我、我的将来有好处,帮助我在这里或者其它什么地方获得更好的薪酬。但是他们或许没有把自己变得更好放到首要位置,首要考虑的可能是更好的薪酬或者是相同薪酬下未知的更多的工作。

    于是,我们开始培训,很高兴请到了一个好老师,这不是那么容易的,某些时候,有些人有专业知识但是却是一个糟糕的老师。我们很幸运请到一个专业知识与授课兼备的老师。

    大家马上进入学习,甚至是和设计工作无关的同事。

    上培训课的一天“雷打不动”,甚至在我们有其它非常重要的事情要做的时候。有时候我们本来要开会或者去看些什么东西,他们会告诉我:不好意思,老板,我们今天有培训。

    很快,3到4堂课之后,我意识到他们学得有多快,变得更棒了。

    最后,也是很重要的一点,我们公司因此变得更好,比任何人所想象的都更好。

    最重要的是,人们想要改变,但是他们并不想真正进入改变的过程中,他们想什么都不做就可以得到不一样的、更好的东西。如果你什么都不改变,那么什么都不会改变。改变是常态的,是新生的标志, 不改变的人和公司是自己的掘墓人,让变化发生和持续的唯一途径是创造一种新的思考方式、行为方式和存在方式。

    改变对人的心理有一种奇怪的精神作用,对待改变,有三种不同的态度:

    1. 忧虑的人把改变视为可怕和威胁性的,因为它有可能让事情变得更糟。

    2. 抱有希望的人被改变鼓励,因为他们认为事情可能会变得更好。

    3. 自信的人把改变视为启迪与挑战,毫无疑问事情会变得更好。

    在结束这篇文章之前,我只想说最后一件事情:我知道,我可以感觉,我也许曾经在其它的时间在其它国家亲身经历过,我可以告诉你,如果你不开始思考对你的公司、产品、风格及应用做改变,并且严肃对待它的话,你也许会比你想象的更快出局,相信我。

    最好的公司并不一定是最大的,最强的,或者钱包最鼓的,而是那些最能适应当下这种快速发展而不稳定的世界经济形势,并能做出必要的改变,变得更有竞争力,更加有趣。

    事物不会改变,我们改变!(翻译:耿海波)

    In the Article that I published on November 27 I talked about an interesting event that happened in our company here in China related to our employees and their training to make them better, improve their skills, become more professional, competent, etc.

    Generally speaking people is always afraid of change, afraid to start something different, something new that is out of their ordinary every day work, and they are concerned that this change will only bring more problems, additional work or challenges. The people do not want to become supervisors or managers because they are afraid of the potential new responsibilities, the potential additional work, managing people and feel that it is EASIER and a lot less stressful to just keep doing the same.

    The second part of this story just happened in these past few days. We went ahead and hired a teacher specialist to improve the skills of our employees on a very specific design software that contributes and makes a huge difference in how fast we can do and decide about products, applications and decoration.

    I enumerate below the things that have happened so far after we started this training that I thought were extremely interesting to mention and share with you:

    1. Before the official training people were afraid and asking themselves why the “Boss” is so persistent to train us on this? We don’t want more responsibilities, we don’t want more work.

    2. Also on the positive side they were thinking: Maybe this is good for me and ,my future and it will help me make more money either here or somewhere else. But they never made the top priority becoming better, the priority was making more money or the unknown of getting more work for the same pay.

    3. So we started the training and we were happy to have a GOOD teacher which is not easy to do, many times the expert is very knowledgeable but a horrible teacher. We were lucky we had one that was very good and also a good teacher.

    4. The group got engaged right away, even people that had nothing to do with design

    5. The days that they had the training became “unchangeable” even when we had other very important things to do. Sometimes we had to meet to decide or see something and they will tell me: Sorry Boss we have training today.

    6. And very soon after 3 or 4 sessions I saw immediately how fast they learned and got better.

    7. And last but not least we became a better company because of this, much better than anybody and any of them could possibly realize or understand.

    The bottom line is that people want a change but they don’t really want to engage in making the change, they just want something different and better without doing anything. If you do not change anything, nothing will change. Change is a constant and a signal of rebirth, and the people or companies that don’t changing are the architects of their own decay. And the only way to make and sustain a change is to create a new way of thinking, acting and being.

    Change has a weird psychological impact on the human mind, and there are 3 different kinds of people that see change as follows:

    1. The Fearful people that see change as scary and threatening because it may make things worse.

    2. The Hopeful people that are encouraged because they think things may get better.

    3. The Confident people that see change as inspiring and challenging to make things without a doubt much better.

    To end this article I just want to say one last thing: I know it, I can feel it, I have lived it, I have experienced it maybe in other times and other countries, but I can tell you that if you do not start thinking in making some changes in your company or products or style or applications and take this more serious now, you may become obsolete sooner than you think, believe.

    The best companies are not necessarily the biggest or the strongest or the ones that have the deepest pockets but are the ones that adapt the faster to these challenging times of fast development and unstable world economies and make the necessary changes to become more competitive and interesting.

    THINGS DO NOT CHANGE, WE CHANGE!
